CMB Core engagements deal with the underlying mechanics of how a business runs — governance, structure, processes, decision-making. They tend to be more sensitive than marketing work because they touch how people work day-to-day.
Give us access to the right people
Business management consulting only works if we can talk to the people doing the work, not just leadership. Schedule time for us with finance, operations, and frontline staff as appropriate. Their insights are usually where the real diagnosis lives.
Be honest about what’s not working
The most expensive mistake clients make is presenting a rosier version of their business than reality. We’re not here to judge — we’re here to help. If there are persistent conflicts, broken processes, or unresolved issues, surface them early.
Expect uncomfortable findings
Good consulting often produces recommendations that are politically inconvenient. Someone you trusted made a poor decision. A process you championed isn’t working. A team member is in the wrong role. We’ll present these findings respectfully, but we won’t soften them to the point of uselessness.
Plan for change management
Implementing recommendations is harder than producing them. Before we finalise any deliverable, we’ll discuss what’s actually feasible given your team’s capacity, culture, and timeline. A perfect recommendation that nobody can execute is worse than a good one that gets done.
Keep the conversation going after delivery
Many CMB Core clients move to a light-touch retainer after the initial engagement — a monthly check-in, quarterly review, or on-call advisory. This is often cheaper than a second full engagement and helps ensure recommendations actually land.
