Our commitment to responsible business practices

Our position: CM Beyer believes that responsible business practices are not a cost centre — they are a competitive advantage. We hold ourselves to standards that go beyond minimum compliance because it is the right thing to do and because our clients expect it.

Overview

CM Beyer Limited is a sales, marketing and business management consultancy. We are a small company — and we believe that small companies have both a responsibility and an opportunity to embed responsible business practices from the outset, rather than retrofitting them as an afterthought when scale demands it.

Our ESG framework is structured around three pillars: environmental responsibility, social impact, and governance standards. Each pillar is supported by documented policies, measurable commitments, and regular internal review.

We do not claim to be perfect. We are a growing business with limited resources, and some of our commitments reflect aspirations that we are working toward rather than achievements we have already completed. We believe that transparency about where we are — and where we intend to be — is more valuable than inflated claims.

Environmental

As a professional services firm, our direct environmental impact is modest compared to manufacturing or logistics businesses. We do not operate factories, maintain vehicle fleets, or produce physical goods. However, we recognise that every business has an environmental footprint, and we take active steps to minimise ours.

Digital-first operations. CM Beyer operates as a digital-first business. Our internal communications, client deliverables, contracts, and records are managed electronically. We do not maintain physical archives, and we use digital signatures (DocuSign and equivalent) for contract execution wherever possible. This eliminates the paper, printing, storage, and transportation costs associated with traditional document management.

Remote and flexible working. Our team operates on a remote-first basis, with physical meetings arranged only where they add genuine value to the client relationship or the work. This reduces commuting-related emissions, eliminates the energy consumption of a permanent office, and allows us to recruit talent based on capability rather than proximity to a fixed location.

Cloud infrastructure. Our website and digital services are hosted with IONOS, whose data centres operate within the EU and utilise energy-efficient cooling and power management systems. We select technology providers that publish environmental commitments and carbon reduction targets.

Travel policy. Where business travel is necessary — for client meetings, industry events, or field operations — we prioritise public transport over private vehicles and video conferencing over travel where the meeting objective can be achieved remotely. International travel between the UK and Australia is minimised through the use of digital collaboration tools and asynchronous working practices across time zones.

Procurement. Where we procure physical materials (marketing collateral, event materials, branded items), we preference suppliers who offer recycled or sustainably sourced materials and who can demonstrate responsible manufacturing practices. We avoid single-use promotional items that are likely to be discarded.

Social

Our social commitments cover how we treat our people, how we engage with clients and the broader community, and how we ensure that our commercial activities contribute positively to the markets we operate in.

Fair employment. CM Beyer pays all team members at or above the National Living Wage, regardless of age. We do not use zero-hours contracts for ongoing roles. All team members have clear terms of engagement, defined responsibilities, and access to a structured feedback and development process. We support flexible working arrangements and measure performance by output, not hours logged.

Diversity and inclusion. We recruit on the basis of capability, attitude, and cultural contribution. We do not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, religion, or any other protected characteristic. As a small team, we do not yet publish diversity statistics — but we are committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of the markets we serve as we grow.

Training and development. We invest in the professional development of our team through structured onboarding, ongoing coaching, skills development programmes, and support for relevant professional qualifications. In our direct sales operations, every team member receives comprehensive training covering product knowledge, communication skills, compliance requirements, and ethical conduct before engaging with any customer.

Client welfare. Our direct sales and marketing programmes are designed with consumer welfare in mind. We comply with all applicable consumer protection legislation, including cooling-off periods, clear pricing disclosure, and honest product representation. We do not use high-pressure sales tactics, misleading claims, or exploitative targeting. Our compliance framework includes daily monitoring, regular mystery shopping, and a clear escalation path for any concerns.

Community contribution. As we grow, we are developing a framework for structured community contribution — including pro bono consultancy for charities and social enterprises, mentoring for early-stage entrepreneurs, and partnerships with educational institutions. These programmes are in early development and we will publish specific commitments as they are formalised.

We believe that responsible marketing and sales practices are not just ethically correct — they produce better commercial outcomes. Customers who are sold to honestly become better long-term clients than customers who are misled.

Governance

CM Beyer operates under bespoke Articles of Association that were specifically drafted for the Company and filed at Companies House. We excluded the government's model articles in favour of a governance framework that provides clear decision-making authority, documented accountability, and robust record-keeping.

Decision-makingDirector's Resolution framework (sequentially numbered, 10-year retention)

Transparency. We publish more information about our operations than most businesses of our size are required to. Our Articles of Association, trade mark registration, company filings, dividend history, privacy policy, and terms of use are all publicly accessible on this website. We believe that transparency builds trust, and trust is the foundation of every client relationship.

Anti-bribery and corruption. CM Beyer has zero tolerance for bribery and corruption in any form. We do not offer, promise, give, request, or accept bribes or improper payments — directly or through third parties. All team members and representatives are required to comply with the Bribery Act 2010. We do not make political donations.

Conflicts of interest. In accordance with our Articles of Association and s.175 of the Companies Act 2006, all potential conflicts of interest are identified, disclosed, and managed. Where a potential conflict exists with a prospective client engagement, we disclose the situation (without revealing confidential details) and, where necessary, decline the engagement.

Our full governance framework is detailed at /corporate-governance/.

Supply Chain Responsibility

We expect the same standards from our suppliers that we apply to ourselves. When selecting suppliers and partners, we consider:

  • Labour practices — fair wages, safe working conditions, no exploitation
  • Environmental impact — preference for suppliers with published environmental commitments
  • Data protection — appropriate data processing agreements with all suppliers handling personal data
  • Financial integrity — timely payment of invoices (we aim to pay all supplier invoices within 30 days)
  • Legal compliance — suppliers must comply with all applicable laws in their jurisdiction

Our principal suppliers include IONOS (web hosting), Three Business (telecommunications), Lloyds Bank (banking), Semrush (marketing intelligence), and Anthropic (AI services). All are established organisations with published compliance and responsibility frameworks.

6

Reporting and Transparency

CM Beyer is not currently required by law to publish an ESG report, a carbon disclosure, or a gender pay gap report — these requirements apply to larger organisations. However, we voluntarily publish the following:

As the Company grows, we will expand our reporting to include quantitative environmental metrics, diversity statistics, and social impact measurements.

7

Modern Slavery

CM Beyer Limited has zero tolerance for modern slavery and human trafficking in any part of our business or supply chain. While we are not currently required to publish a modern slavery statement under the Modern Slavery Act 2015UK legislation requiring commercial organisations with annual turnover of £36 million or more to publish an annual statement setting out the steps they take to prevent modern slavery in their business and supply chains. (which applies to organisations with turnover exceeding £36 million), we voluntarily commit to the following:

  • We will not knowingly engage with any supplier, partner, or subcontractor that uses forced, bonded, or compulsory labour
  • We will not knowingly engage with any organisation that employs children below the legal minimum working age
  • All recruitment and employment practices within CM Beyer comply with UK employment law, including the right to work checks, fair wages, and safe working conditions
  • We encourage all team members and partners to report any concerns about modern slavery through our internal reporting channels
Although the Modern Slavery Act threshold does not apply to us, we believe that all businesses — regardless of size — have a moral obligation to ensure that their operations and supply chains are free from exploitation.
8

Ongoing Commitment

ESG is not a static document — it is an ongoing commitment that evolves as our business grows, as stakeholder expectations develop, and as best practices advance. We review our ESG framework annually and update our policies and commitments accordingly.
