A March note from the directors
A short note to say where things are. We’ve been deliberate about not writing too much on here — this isn’t a content marketing exercise — but it’s been a busy few weeks and a quick update feels right.
Client work
We’re now running active engagements with seven clients across the three divisions. Most are CMB Insight work — strategy, research, and positioning — with a smaller number of CMB Amplify campaigns kicking off in April and one significant CMB Core engagement that started last week. The sectors lean towards professional services and B2B technology, which probably reflects who’s been calling rather than any deliberate strategy on our part.
One thing we hadn’t expected: about half of the engagements that start as a single piece of work end up expanding into something broader within the first month. That’s a good problem to have and is part of why we made the hiring decision we wrote about last week.
The team
Our first senior consultant joined this week, which means we’re now three people doing client work day-to-day. We’ll be selective about adding more headcount; the bar for hiring will stay high. We’d rather decline a piece of work than take it on and deliver it at a standard we’re not comfortable with.
Operations
Behind the scenes we’ve finished setting up most of the tooling and processes we need to run smoothly at this scale. Time tracking, billing, client onboarding, knowledge management — all in. None of it is glamorous but it makes a difference. We’ve also finalised our professional indemnity cover and our ICO registration, both of which are now in force and which we’ve written about separately on this page.
What’s next
Two things we’re working on for April. The first is finalising the launch of our Australian office, which we’ll write about properly once it’s signed. The second is a small set of templated CMB Insight engagements — shorter, more sharply-scoped pieces of work for clients who don’t need a full bespoke programme. We’ll publish details on our services page when they’re ready.
That’s it for now. As ever, if you’ve got a problem you’d like a conversation about, get in touch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you taking on new clients?
Yes. We’re being selective about scope but not about volume. The fastest way to start a conversation is via our contact page.
What’s the typical lead time to start work?
Two to four weeks for most engagements, depending on the discovery and proposal cycle. Urgent work is sometimes possible — ask.
Where are you based?
Our registered office is in London (Suite 53C, Unimix House, Abbey Road, NW10 7TR). We operate primarily across the UK with an Australian office launching shortly.
