Welcoming our first senior consultant
This week we welcomed our first senior consultant to the CM Beyer team. It’s a small step on paper but a significant one for us. Since launching at the start of February, the work has been delivered directly by the founders. Bringing someone senior in alongside us changes what’s possible — and what we can take on next.
Why now
The decision to hire wasn’t driven by a single big contract. It was driven by the shape of the work coming through the door. In our first six weeks we’ve had conversations with prospective clients in sectors as varied as fintech, professional services, hospitality, and B2B SaaS. The common thread is that most of these conversations move quickly from “can you help with marketing” to broader questions about operations, structure, and strategy. That’s the work we want to do, and it needs more senior bandwidth than two people can sustainably provide.
We could have hired a junior to take pressure off operations. We chose instead to hire someone who can lead client engagements from day one. The reasoning was simple: junior hires would have made us look bigger but wouldn’t have improved the work. A senior hire does both.
What they’ll work on
Our new consultant will lead engagements primarily across CMB Core — the business management consulting side — and contribute to discovery and strategy work within CMB Insight. They bring a background in commercial strategy, operating-model design, and post-merger integration that complements what the founders bring (marketing strategy, brand, creative). Between us, we can now take on more complex multi-disciplinary engagements without stretching anyone too thin.
Practically, this means we can start running two senior-led engagements in parallel rather than sequentially. For clients, it means faster start dates and more flexibility on timing.
What it doesn’t mean
We’re not suddenly an agency with layers and accounts teams and time-tracking systems. The model is still that the people doing the thinking are the people doing the work. The senior who scopes your engagement is the one you’ll talk to on Friday afternoon when something urgent comes up. We have no intention of changing that even as we grow.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are you hiring more?
Not actively, but we’ll do it again when the workload warrants it. We’ve deliberately committed to growing in step with demand rather than ahead of it.
Does this change pricing?
No. Our Schedule of Charges remains as published. Senior consultants are billed at the same day rate as the founders.
How do I get in touch about new work?
Same as before — contact us with a short description of what you’re trying to solve, and we’ll come back within two business days.
