CM Beyer integrates Semrush into marketing intelligence operations
CM Beyer Limited has integrated Semrush — one of the leading marketing intelligence platforms — into the operational toolkit of its CMB Insight division. The platform is now used across client engagements for search engine optimisation auditing, keyword research, competitor visibility analysis, backlink profiling, and content performance tracking.
Why Semrush
Marketing consultancy is only as good as the data it is based on. Opinions are easy to generate; evidence-based recommendations require access to reliable, current data about market conditions, competitor behaviour, and search landscape dynamics. Semrush provides this data at a level of depth and granularity that would be impractical to assemble manually.
We evaluated Semrush alongside several competing platforms, including Ahrefs, Moz, and SE Ranking. While each has strengths in specific areas, Semrush offered the most comprehensive all-in-one capability across the range of analytical tasks we perform for clients: technical SEO auditing, organic and paid search competitor analysis, content gap identification, and rank tracking across multiple geographies.
The platform also supports reporting workflows that align with how we deliver insights to clients — structured, branded, and actionable rather than raw data dumps that require interpretation the client is not equipped to provide.
How we use it
Within CMB Insight, Semrush is used at multiple stages of a client engagement. During the discovery phase, it provides a rapid assessment of the client’s current search visibility, technical health, and competitive positioning. This baseline informs the strategy we develop and the KPIs we set.
During execution, Semrush powers ongoing rank tracking, content performance monitoring, and technical SEO auditing. If a client’s rankings shift — positively or negatively — we can identify the cause quickly and adjust strategy accordingly rather than waiting for monthly analytics reviews to reveal the change after the fact.
For competitive analysis, Semrush allows us to monitor competitor keyword portfolios, track their advertising spend estimates, analyse their content strategies, and identify gaps and opportunities that our clients can exploit. This is particularly valuable in crowded markets where marginal advantages in search visibility translate directly into commercial outcomes.
Client benefit
The practical benefit for clients is that recommendations from CMB Insight are grounded in data, not intuition. When we advise a client to invest in a particular content strategy, target a specific set of keywords, or restructure their site architecture, those recommendations are supported by quantitative evidence from a platform that tracks billions of data points across the global search landscape.
This does not replace strategic judgement — data without context is just noise. But it ensures that the strategic judgement we apply is informed by the best available information about what is actually happening in the market, rather than what we assume is happening based on experience alone.
